Summary/Abstract: The rising of his wife, Elena, as a leader, as most of Ceausescu`s long term stakes, was carefully and systematically prepared from his early years. This was not a means to combat the economic crisis or a consequence of the couple`s seizure of the competences of the party apparatus, although both were obvious in Ceaucescu`s Romania. elena became the second leader of the country and the party in order to preserve and consolidate Ceausescu`s dictatorship , and this was a singular phenomenon among the European Communist countries through its structure and manifestation.
