Summary/Abstract: In this study, it is aimed to reveal the view of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ICI) on determinants of the national competitive advantage of the industrial sector. In this way, content analysis was carried out in the framework of Porter’s diamond model over 55 speeches made by ICI Chairman during 2013-2017. The results reveal that the basic motivation of the business world in terms of competitive advantage in the industrial sector is based on factor conditions. This implies the fact that the competitive advantage of the country in the industrial sector can be enhanced by improving the factor conditions. Nevertheless, the intense emphasis of the two factors, the government and the chance, affecting the main determinants of the competitive advantage in the discourses can be interpreted as an indication of the uncertainty in the business environment. The results can shed light on the development of suggestions for policy makers.
