Summary/Abstract: After the founding of the Kingdom of Poland in 1815, Stanisław Kostka Potocki was the head of the Ministry of Religious – since 1812 the Grand Master of the National Grand Orient of Poland. His religious policy was often inspired by freemasonry values and interests. This has often led to interference in the sacramental and preaching ministry of the Church. The most eminent example of this was the Decree issued on 20 May 1820, prohibiting the clergy from taking up the issue of Masonic on the forum of the sacrament of confession and in preaching the sermons.
