Summary/Abstract: Prisoners of war are those persons, members of the armed forces, parties to the conflict, which were seized by the enemy. Given that their situation is very serious, being virtually at the mercy of the capturing armed forces and considering the sad experience of the Second World War in this area, the international humanitarian law has provided a series of regulations which improve a lot the life of those in this situation, protecting their life, dignity and health.
