Summary/Abstract: This article analyses how self-employed people’s work via online labour platforms contributes to a better balance between work and parenthood in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector in Bulgaria. The attitudes of over one hundred self-employed persons have been analysed. The research goals were achieved through the authors’ sociological survey, using quantitative (web-based questionnaire) and qualitative methods (in-depth interviews). The research results showed that working through online platforms is conducive to respondents’ better work–parenthood balance. In this sense, the perceived vulnerability of online platform work, which is well-represented in the literature, is nuanced - at least with respect to highly skilled and highly paid self-employed workers. Its study will further contribute to a better understanding of the quality of work in the new economy.
