Summary/Abstract: Art, artist and society interact with each other. The artist, who is a member of the society in which he lives, is nourished and influenced by the characteristics of his age, the cultural texture and geography of his society, and influences the society with his works of art. The focus of this study is on a cross-section of Turkish painting artists and painters from Trabzon. With this research, the effects of the cultural texture and geographical location of the city where the artists were born and grew up on the painters of Trabzon were tried to be examined. The research includes a combination of theoretical and field-oriented. The theoretical framework consists of Howard S. Becker's concept of “art worlds and his approach to sociology of art in the context of symbolic interactionist sociology. The field dimension of the research is in-depth interviews with nine painters from Trabzon. In the research, a semi-structured form was prepared as a data collection method. The open-ended questions prepared in accordance with the aim of the study were directed to the painters and the answers were deciphered and descriptive analysis was performed. The history of the artists participating in the research, their paintings, their artistic productions and their contributions to the art of painting and the influence of Trabzon on the art of painting and the artist, were compiled. Within the context of sociology of art, data were evaluated based on Becker's concept of ‘art worlds”.
