Conversational Strategies – an efficient instrument for social interactions, negotiation and mediation

Summary/Abstract: This study intends to present certain socio-linguistic concepts that might be used as an instrument by professionals practicing face-to-face verbal interaction at their work, on daily basis – negotiators, militaries deployed abroad, and diplomats.There is a need of fine tuning and subtle manipulation of the linguistic means in certain situations, in order to achieve the targeted goal or to calm down certain. There is also a need of winning someone’s trust and of building closer ties, or, by the contrary – of keeping the distance without generating a rejection feeling.From this perspective, it is useful to apply these strategies (ways of linguistic interactions) as they improve the results of the conversations initiated by those who had a previous training on the matter.
