Summary/Abstract: How can be explained the present cultural desert as compared to the cultural fervor of the 60s under the communist regime? The accent lies mainly on the second pat of the comparison, which , in the communist context as it is embedded in the conscience of the younger generation, cannot be fully understood. The author compares the 60s in Czechoslovakia with the period of the French Revolution and the post-Stalinist era.
