Summary/Abstract: The political events that took place both in Budapest and in Bucharest led to the intensification of the collaboration between the Romanian intellectuals on both sides of the Carpathians in the last three decades of the 19th century. In this context, Titu Maiorescu had a series of connections with Arad intellectuals Ioan Slavici, Vasile Mangra, Petru Pipoș or Geoargiu Popa. An important role was played by the relationship between Ioan Slavici from Arad, who settled in Bucharest, and Titu Maiorescu, who supported him in his literary debut. Through Ioan Slavici, Titu Maiorescu was informed about the events that took place in Banat and Crișana and came to know some of the intellectuals in the area .Titu Maiorescu’s connections with Arad intellectuals contributed to the maintenance and development of Romanian culture in the Arad area.
