Strategy Determination in Family Businesses: A Case Study

Summary/Abstract: This reseach is aimed to determine the relationship between strategy determination and decisionmaking actions in the context of family businesses. The question of the research is “What is the potential of the strategy-setting process in family businesses to explain decision-making models?” In this study, the findings obtained from face-to-face interviews with founder managers of five family businesses were examined by the analysis of content. The sample group of the research is constituded by the family businesses in Sakarya province. In the data collection, face to face interview technique was used and Maxqda program was used for data analysis. According to the result the end of the analyzes, relationship was found between strategy determination and decision making in terms of production factors. It has been found that links are exist among the strategy determination & decision making in family businesses by product and service, labor force, capital and values.
