Vlasi Istrije na području sjeverne Dalmacije u popisnim defterima 16. stoljeća
Vlaches of Istria in the Region of North Dalmatia Regarding Register-Defters of the 16th Century

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents a group Istrian Vlaches who immigrated into North Dalmatia in the first half of the 16th century, and the proof for that can be found in the Ottoman register-defters from 1530, 1540 and 1550. This group of Vlaches is the exception, because their immigration into the territory within the borders of Ottoman Empire is the opposite direction of moving in comparison with the migrations of the other Vlach groups in the same period, as well as in the later period. The way notifying these Vlaches is also the exception regarding the diplomatic structure of register-defters. As for the other characteristics, i.e. organisation, names and legal status, this group seems to be the same as the other groups of Balkan's Vlaches in that period, at least according to the data available in this kind of the historical sources.
