Summary/Abstract: In a significant number of cases it may be difficult to distinguish a human trafficking case from one of migrant smuggling and related conduct. The scenario may be so similar that an investigator or prosecutor may be tempted to treat them the same way. However, the consequences of treating a trafficking case as one of migrant smuggling can be severe for the victim.
