Summary/Abstract: The material from Bulgaria's song folklore disclosing moments of the life of Bulgarians under the Turkish yoke, is abundant and impressive. This can be seen reflected in the content of a huge number of songs treating various topics - focusing on heroes, history, the revolutionary effort, day-today routine. This also holds good of the plight of Bulgarians in Macedonia a region which remained under the sultan's authority even after Bulgaria's liberation in 1877-78.
