Summary/Abstract: Aleksandar Klas was a famous Serbian cartoonist, graphic designer, and illustrator, whose activity marked the second half of the 20th century. In 2019, the National Library of Serbia received a valuable gift − his personal library along with over 6,500 cartoons, posters, personal photographs, and a collection of art paintings and archival material. It was formed as the Legacy of Aleksandar Karakušević Klas according to the heir’s wish. This paper highlights the most important aspects and problems concerning the receipt of the material, its classification, bibliographic cataloging, physical treatment, as well as the way it is kept and stored in the Department for Special Collections. Future plans and activities aiming at promoting and drawing public attention to the value and importance of this legacy are also highlighted.
