Summary/Abstract: The article includes both textual and aesthetical analysis of thirteen preserved letters by Józef Koblański, which date back to the years from 1790 to 1796 and were addressed to Izabela Czartoryska. The letters were written by Koblański during his journeys, when he was staying in Warsaw (1790), in Krzeszowice and in Cracow (1792), then again in Warsaw (1793) as well as at the time in which he was abroad, in Vienna, Baden and Karlsbad (1796). Since they were being written in a period that was important for our country ( the Four-Year-Long Seym, Targowica Confederation, the Second Partition, losing the independence by Poland), political news is what dominates in them. In a few of the letters its sender, a lyrical poet, a sentimentalist due to his choice and talent, focuses on emotional states and feelings. Besides, an emotional element pierces all the topics mentioned by the sender. In the performed analysis the author of the article emphasised the colourful style of expression by Koblański, an epistolograph. He showed the riches of the way in which political and relating to the customs realities were described, its documentary value and the accuracy of comments concerning the current national and foreign events. He marked a lyrical element present in the letters and an emotional one and expressing directly by their author his own feelings and experiences, close contact with Izabela Czartoryska, their relations of friendship and affectionate cordiality joining him with the receiver of his letters. He estimated that the above features of the preserved block of correspondence by not well-known poet of Polish Enlightement belonging to the circle of the Czartoryskis family's patronage are discriminants typical both of so called written newspapers and of friendly-intimate letters. In the presented article not only have the value of style, information and emotions been taken into consideration, but also, within an intellectual element, there has been paid attention to bitter-witty irony by the "Polish Stern", especially while he was describing to his employer the laws and the actions performed by Targowica members and by invaders. The textual and aesthetical analysis of the letters by Koblański testifies that the preserved correspondence by this Puławy poet in an interesting way corresponds with his creation and supplements the image of his interesting personality that emerges from his poems.
