Summary/Abstract: Dimitrie Gusti chose Cornova, Bessarabia, for his sociological field team research in 1931 as he considered this village to be representative owing to its continued Romanian traditions. Anton Golopenția and Ștefania Cristescu were both members of this team. Even before visiting this locality, Sanda Golopenţia was familiar with it from the works of her parents. In 1984, she published her mother’s work Spells of the Cornova Area  Bessarabia [‘Descântece din Cornova  Basarabia’], in the USA. Later, she used traditions and customs of this ancient village in her own linguistic and ethnolinguistic works. In 2011, she was granted the title of “honorary citizen of Cornova village” as a token of high esteem.
