Summary/Abstract: The second half of the twentieth century is characterized by a great development in all spheres of life ranging from technical developments, economic, financial, and social to humanity that have brought endless benefits. Environmental crime generates tens of billions of dollars in profits for criminal enterprises every year, and it is growing. Environmental crimes offer high profits and minimal risk. The combination of huge profits, low risk of detection and ineffective penalties, make environmental crime extremely lucrative and will expand more because of the growth of people’s needs and the ongoing technological advances which lead to new forms of pollutants. Collective effort and multidisciplinary approach is encapsulated in the recommendations for a common platform of action to address the growing threat of environmental crime to the health, peace and security and suggest potential future actions at national, regional and international levels. The aim of this paper is to give some answers about the scale and impact of environmental harm now and in the future to create strategies so that they could more effectively detect, deter, and disrupt this form of transnational crime. This collective effort and multidisciplinary approach is encapsulated in the recommendations for a common platform of action to address the growing threat of environmental crime to the health, peace and security and suggest potential future actions at national, regional and international levels.
