Summary/Abstract: Cryptocurrencies are not currently regulated by civil law and it is possible to find their regulation only in public law. The main aim of this text is to examine how the Civil Code can deal with cryptocurrencies, what legal relationships arise when a transaction is included into a new block within a blockchain protocol, and whether cryptocurrencies could be regarded as a “thing” in a legal sense within the meaning of its legal definition in the Civil Code. Text then focuses on a discussion about consequences of the author’s conclusions.
