Summary/Abstract: In this article I analyze the concept of Truth and the way it affects the subject andits perception of reality and the world. I demonstrate that, ultimately, as Lacanhas established in Book 11, our unconscious is structured like a language, whichmeans that behind the Real that inhabits us there is no essence, no ultimatemeaning to help us understand, for instance, the difference between reality andfiction, good and bad, justice and injustice, democracy and dictatorship. Thereare no more clear boundaries and there is no Absolute, no certainty. Instead thereis a split, a division, a doubleness. This twofoldness has resulted in a crisis thathas affected the main institutions of Western civilization. That situation has beenscrutinized by different literary texts and in particular by writers like mexicanEnrique Serna, who deconstructs and criticizes the social and politicalenvironment that surrounds the main character in his novel La doble vida deJesús.
