Summary/Abstract: The article studies the factors determining woman’s status in traditional society and family of the Lower Amur region native ethnies, the ways they have been transforming from the late XIX c. till nowadays. The analysis of the mentioned materials allows to conclude that women despite their unequal position in the traditional society and family were not their passive members, but participated actively in the social life including the sphere of production. In its turn this assumption leads to the conclusion that the woman’s status and role in the traditional society and family depended on her current position in the system of the family relations, on the social milieu she acted within, and on the members of the family and community she contacted with.
