Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the significance of error in visual art, with particular focus on the “post-error” effects – positive outcomes that lead to unexpected discovery or new ideas in artistic practice. The wide variety of discussed cases includes examples of intermedia art of the 1990s, the opportunities offered by “erroneous” interpretation of an interactive, open-ended artwork, as well as error as a vehicle through which art expresses its social or political protest.
