Summary/Abstract: The study represents a new approach on the life and work of Bernát Singer, one of Subotica’s best-known rabbis. We can be grateful as well as for his role inopening the new synagogue, well-known for its stunning beauty. In the first two decades of the twentieth century Rabbi Bernát Singer took part in several major cultural and social initiatives that thoroughly determined the social life of Subotica.
