Moral Behaviours of Librarians in the Light of the Polish Code of Ethics for Librarians and Other Information Workers

Summary/Abstract: Academic libraries as science organisations which protect cultural heritage can popularize human work as deeply ethical action in the context of a man and nation’s development. It correlates with the character of activities of libraries in general, as institutions serving the mankind in their aspiration to knowledge. The Polish Code of Ethics for Librarians and Other Information Workers recommends moral attitudes and behaviours of librarians towards the external environment, users and own working environment. The author took her notice on the Code’s clues applying to the internal relations at the libraries, considering the surveys concerning this area of activity. The purpose of the following article was to bring closer the moral issues determining these librarians’ behaviours that increase the quality of mutual professional relations, but also those that interfere the work.
