Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this paper is to synthetically present the history of Franciscan library in Krakow by taking in consideration the following period of time: since the Middle Age till the present moment. Basically, its history can be divided in two crucial periods. As the separation point we consider the fire of the whole City of Cracow in 1850 when were burnt both the precious collection of manuscripts and the Middle-aged records of music. After this tragic event, the library was gradually remodelled and the catalogue was restocked with books from different friaries of the Polish Province of Order, donations and purchases. In the following contribution, we emphasise that in the restructuration process we also include a completely new edificial building of the library. Such a construction project was financed by the Cracow Province of Order and a priceless effort of many librarians.
