Summary/Abstract: The long quotations of the book of Malachi are one of the many key features of the first chapters of Luke. It is widely accepted that Luke’s infancy stories expand allusions to Mal 3 to a very high degree, but scholars have not yet explained its connection to the rest of the gospel. This article examines Luke`s usage of Mal 3. Luke receives this Old Testament Prophet in order to express his own idea of righteousness.
