Summary/Abstract: A review of normative acts has been made concerning healing practice in Bulgaria. There exists a leg-islative framework on healers in Bulgaria. According to Chapter 6 of the Health Act, healers have the right to practice non-conventional methods (NM) that have beneficial effects on individual health (IH). At the moment, practitioners do not meet all the conditions set out in the Bulgarian regulations for practicing NM. Nowadays, healers are illegally practicing NM in our country. In favor of the safety of Bulgarian patients using non-conventional health services, the controlling function performed by state health departments through inspectors and/or officials in the Regional Health Inspections in relation to the healers’ activity need to be strengthened.
