Summary/Abstract: In this paper I review the extensive scholarly literature on gerrymandering, particularly that of the tests and standards of gerrymandering, that are used to assess redistricting plans and identify partisan bias. The tests are grouped into two subcategories: mathematical – statistical models, that are outcomebased, meaning their only inputs are election results; and geographical, mapbased methods, that evaluate the spatial attributes of constituencies with the use of geographic information systems.
