Summary/Abstract: If you decide to visit the Faculty of Law at the largest and most famous university in Rome, you will find it very easily, as "la Sapienza" is a campus and every Roman you ask for directions knows that it is located near Termini Central Station. However, the situation is different in Florence, as the local university, resp. its faculties, institutes, individual departments and divisions and libraries are located in many places, in various buildings, beautiful villas, historically valuable buildings, but strangely marked. Undoubtedly, this is also due to the fact that the beginnings of studies at the University of Florence date back to 1321, when there were other priorities for builders than the construction of a university town. A peculiarity is that this Florentine center of education has been officially called a "university" since 1923. Today, the University of Florence is a public institution whose autonomy is guaranteed by the Constitution of the Italian Republic. It is one of the most important in Italy.
