Summary/Abstract: Paper presents the results of our research on the IT support related factors affecting success at public calls for research and development project proposals, withfocus on public calls for EU grants. Paper is focused on the role of role of project designand planning methodologies, and compares the EU project planning recommendationswith the most popular formal project management methodologies. Main componentsof a project proposal are examined, and research-based recommendations for theselection of project planning methodology and organization of project planningactivities are presented. Authors also examine the influence of information systemsupport for project development and management and available methods forevaluation of information system quality.
