Summary/Abstract: In this study, the relationship between loan volume of deposit banks and economic growth is analyzed. For this purpose, using autoregressive distributed lag bound testing procedure developed by Pesaran, Shin ve Smith (2001), primarily the cointegration relationship between the total credit volume of deposit banks and economic growth is investigated for Turkey for the period of 2003:I- 2017:III. In addition, deposit banks are divided into public and private banks and the effect of ownership structure of banks on this relationship is discussed. As a result of the study, it was seen that the increase in total credit volume of deposit banks in the long term had a negative effect on GDP, but this effect was positive in the short term. While similar results were reached for public banks, long-term effect was positive and shortterm effect was negative for private banks.
