Summary/Abstract: Elena Cuza, whose disappearance marks her 110th birthday this year, spent the last years of her long and sad life in Piatra Neamț, between 1899-1901 and 1904 -1909.Mrs. Elena Cuza, a discreet being, in the shadow of her illustrious husband, Alexandru Ioan Cuza, was a special personality, a charitable spirit, who enjoyed the love of ordinary Romanians, but also of European crowned heads, including the Romanian royal family.
