Summary/Abstract: In the last few years, the Czech public has been overwhelmed by debates about the possibilities of introducing so-called affirmative action programs - a policy of leveling opportunities, aimed at eliminating or reducing the impact of institutional discrimination and ensuring real equality of opportunity, especially for Roma and women. Although at one time it seemed that these programs would be directed mainly at the Roma community, recent events on the Czech political scene suggest a second option: affirmative action is now being debated, especially in connection with the disadvantage of women in the labor market.
