Summary/Abstract: Until now, researchers have classified the Writer, editor and social Activist Helena Beatus (1882-1916) a minor role in literary history. Her liaison with the poet Antoni Szandlerowski, a Catholic priest, moreover, has placed her in the role of a “sacred muse”. The scandalous nature of this relationship (she was Jewish and married) led to a number of misrepresentations of her person. In fact, her influence on Szandlerowski’s creative process becomes apparent when we Examine her autobiographical novel, which includes her letters to the poet, as well as the correspondence Szandlerowski published in Confiteor. Whatever the real nature of her contribution to Paraklet, a play attributed to Szandlerowski, it is worth examining Beatus’ life and work as an independent phenomenon.
