How Testing Online Makes Education Modern and Effective

Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this paper is to prove that the modernization of testing university students makes the learning process more effective and helps teachers to improve and make this process more interesting for students. The Department of Foreign Languages from University of Žilina has recently changed its way of testing and evaluating students capitalizing on the impact on test item analysis and diagnosing easy, optimal and difficult tasks. The most significant part of this piece of research deals with a marker of individual students’ achievement called "student gain" reflecting the knowledge students gain during a semester.
