Summary/Abstract: The article points out the overruling role of the supernatural common good in Aquinas’ doctrine of political legitimacy. In order to study this thesis in the contemporary thomistic school, the author focuses on the relation between Church and State according to the work of an important thomistic philosopher of the 20th. century, Julio Meinvielle (+1973).
