Summary/Abstract: The research in this essay concerns the representation of some cultural and mythological heritage in Sicily, according to a corpus of French texts chosen in the XVIII and XIX century odeporic literature and travel guides. Located in the centre of a great trade routes and movements in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily was the destination of different civilizations such as Phoenician, Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Arabic. The Normans too, the Spanish domination and the French have deeply influenced its culture leaving traces that are still visible. Traveling in Sicily is, therefore, a trip among mythology and history, architecture, colors, sounds and flavors. Everything is melted there – first example of globalization – and everything keeps its identity.
