LE JEU DE LA FEUILLÉE. THE MYSTERY OF THE SENSE AND ITS GAME

Summary/Abstract: In Jeu de la Feuillée, Adam de la Halle surprises with his choice to associate elements that seem to have few features in common. The society of Arras is mixed up with the world of fairies and la mesnie Hellequin. We also find a dervé, whose role is, without doubt, to further accentuate the mystery of meaning of this atypical game. The aim of our contribution is to show that, beyond any dramatic logic, in Jeu de la Feuillée, the meaning is created through the very succession of these incoherent elements. Indeed, everything seems to suggest that the challenge of this mysterious game with the meaning is to reveal the omnipresence of illusion and to postulate the omnipotence of laughter.
