Summary/Abstract: The translation of specialised texts requires skilful command not only of the source language and the target language but also of the specific field for which the translation is produced. Does the translation of specialised texts require different techniques? Does it involve the use of special strategies in order to come up with a meaningful but at the same time easily understandable translation? Does the translation of specialised texts address only the initiated in the field or should it be equally comprehensible to the laymen? In particular, should a military text be translated for the military staff only or for the civilians as well? These are some of the questions that this paper starts from and to which it will hopefully find suitable answers.
