Summary/Abstract: Our study is a comparative analysis of the two editions of the reference instrument in languages, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR), in terms of humour and related words in its 2001 edition and 2018 edition, CEFR Companion Volume with New Descriptors. The occurrences of such words have significantly increased in the latter edition, thus updating the instrument to the permanent evolution of the language use in our society.
