Summary/Abstract: Composing under the influence of electronic music, Helmuth Lachenmann substantiates the following innovative traits: tonal, structural, auratic, and transcendental. His views on musical hearing in musique concrete are not only original but also lead to discoveries in the postmodern condition. His ideas about the relationship hearing and musique concrete are interpreted with examples from his emblematic String Quartet No. 2. With his methods, he strives towards ideas of the 'corporeal' and the attainment of an unorthodox instrumental experience in the sphere of leading postmodern composition.
