Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses the often overlooked aspects in historiography, namely the daily life during wartime. Behind the dry figures and facts that historians tend to focus on, there were countless real lives affected by the war. While apparently less spectacular than discussing major victories or defeats or the evolution of the front lines, there can be no real understanding of World War 1 – and of war, in general – without having a picture of the individual efforts and individual dramas of the people involved. The paper below sheds some light unto the daily lives of the Romanian soldiers and officers during World War 1, the text being accompanied by an impressive number of rare photographs.
