Summary/Abstract: This research paper aims to investigate the relationship between the Romanian economic growth and stock market returns for companies listed on Bucharest Stock Exchange and included in the Bucharest Exchange Trading index during the period 2000-2017. The economic growth of Romania will be measured using the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on an annual basis and as proxy for the stock market development the Bucharest Exchange Trading index (BET) will be used. The GDP will be considered at market prices in order to reflect more accurately the effect of the stock market on its value. The statistical methods employed to analyze this relationship will be the Least Squares Regression Model using the logarithmic values of the variables and Johansen Cointegration test.
