Energy sector.Homogeneity and heterogeneity in the financial performance of companies

Summary/Abstract: The oil and gas industry occupies an important place in the economy; the companies found in this industry remain the strongest and most profitable companies in the world. The objective of the research is to investigate the potential financial performance factors of companies operating in the oil and gas industry and also to identify the homogeneity and heterogeneity of companies' performance. For this purpose, a database consisting of a sample of 61 companies, listed on various stock exchanges around the world, was studied and created, the analyzed period being 2013-2017. The study involves identifying the existence and type of dependence that is established between the variables of capital structure, indebtedness rate specific to the oil and gas industry, liquidity and the financial performance of companies.
