Summary/Abstract: Some medieval historical sources note that the hunt was one of the pleasures of the Wallachian and Moldavian princes. Dimitrie Cantemir for example, mentions that in Moldova there has long been the tradition of organizing 4 hunting parties per year. At first, the princely hunters were free men, having the role of supplying the reign of the Princely Court, for later to be included in the category of servants of the Moldavia and Wallachia rulers and to have military attributions. They were organized in small companies, formed by 5090 people, and commanded by captains (căpitani, vătafi).
