Summary/Abstract: Ghika family was extremely numerous and not few were famous for Romanian or universal history. It had nobiliary ancestry roots begining in the 17th century and gave to Moldavia and Wallachia ten rulers during twenty‑five reigns in a period of seventy‑ five years. Having an Aromanian origin, many of its members ascended in important positions of Ottoman Empire, Moldavia and Wallachia. They fought for territorial integrity and autonomy of the Romanian Kingdom. They were innovators of social structures and promoters of the cultural progress. Eight great personalities being blood related with the Romanian regnant build the great branch of Ghika‑family from Comănești.
