Summary/Abstract: The analysis accomplished in the research presents the evolution of forests areas in Romania, evolution that took place between 1913-2016. Forests are closely related to Romanian's cultural, socio-economic and historical development, and the biodiversity of forests varies greatly with management, history, age, structure, composition and human factors. Forestry contributes to a number of European Union specific development policies, including rural development (through employment and prosperity), renewable energy, development cooperation, biodiversity protection and climate action.Throughout the analysed period, the forests areas have experienced constant changes due to the human factor and the political context, the consequences of the historical events and the influence of the natural factors, all of which had a negative influence on the forests areas with significant losses.
