Summary/Abstract: The aim of this research was to establish the psychometric properties of Experiences of Close Relationships Inventory ECR, developed by Brennan, Clark and Shaver in 1998. The instrument consists in two scales: anxiety and avoidance, based on which four attachment styles could be determined: secure, preoccupied, dismissing and fearful. 180 participants were included in the first study, aiming to validate the factorial structure of the ECR as proposed by its authors. Data suggested rather good results for both scales, the majority of items reproducing the factor loading found in the original version. A few items which did not meet this criterion were removed from the scale. 78 participants were involved in the second study that aimed to establish the reliability and the validity of the Romanian adapted version. The results indicated good reliability as well as good construct validity for both scales of the ECR.
