Summary/Abstract: The fallowing work analyzes the exploitation of salt within the Trotuș-Ocna region of Moldavia, situated within Romania. The text illustrates the general properties of salt as well as delving within the details of the extraction process. Moreover it examines the early history of the salts quarries and their role within the principality of Moldova and the attitude of the princes throughout the ages in regard to this precious recourse that provided both economic and social developments.
