Summary/Abstract: The education concerning the environment is a process that seeks to improve the quality of life, helping the people to gain knowledge, motivations, values and commitments that they need in order to efficiently manage the resources of the earth and to assume responsibilities concerning the preservation of the quality of the environment. The ecological education should start from an early age thus contributing to the formation of ecological knowledge and an ecological reasoning about the nature, from which an attentive and a correct conduct towards the nature can derive. The children represent an important public for the environmental education, because they are the administrators and the consumers of tomorrow’s resources. They can influence to a great degree the parents and other members of the community. The care of the environment should be an essential component of the moral, spiritual, social and cultural development of the younger generation. In the developed countries, one of the basic criterion of the most esteemed institutions is the importance that they give to the ecological education. From an early age, the children should be familiarized with the environmental problems that they will inevitably encounter in the future. In order to develop the capacity of the children to take judicious and environmentally friendly decisions, the ecological education should be developed systematically.
