The Resurrection Theology in the Epistles of Saint Paul

Summary/Abstract: This paper explores Saint Paul’s understanding of the resurrection of the dead, which is related in the Orthodox tradition with the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The main focus of the study is based on the texts of 1 Corinthians and 1 Thessalonians. Other traditions regarding the resurrection are not neglected, because they represent an important part of the Apostle’s missionary work. Paul’s view on the resurrection is characterized by ‘novelty’ in the eyes of his audience, but it represents, in the same time, the main foundation for the development of the teaching regarding the nature of the resurrected bodies.
